New pharmaceutical tube line for greater flexibility

High demand led to production shortages at the Swiss tube manufacturer Hoffmann Neopac. With a new tube line in Oberdiessbach, the family owned company increases its production and thus ensures shorter delivery times and greater flexibility.

"We want to grow in all key areas and be agile", explains Mark Aegler, CEO of Hoffmann Neopac AG, on the prospects of the successful Swiss tube manufacturer. The company, which has its head office in Thun, believes in the Swiss production facility and continuously invests its profits. To increase production capacity, Neopac is investing in a new tube line in Oberdiessbach. This is designed for small pharmaceutical tubes and will be operational in the first quarter 2017.

Customer satisfaction comes first

"Highly increasing demand led to production shortages last year", explains Mark Aegler. "This led to long delivery time-frames. We wanted to solve this problem as quickly as possible. Customer satisfaction is of the utmost priority for us, not only concerning product quality but also time-frames." With the new line, greater capacity is guaranteed.

Expansion of medical tube production

The new pharmaceutical tube line in Oberdiessbach will simplify production planning due to less diameter changes. It is located in an ISO 8 clean room and must work absolutely perfectly so that the small tubes are automatically transferred to another production step via several facilities. In 2017, Neopac is expanding its medical tube production in a clean room, thus ensuring compliance with stricter hygiene criteria.

Engineering with Neopac project team

The general contractor of Hoffmann Neopac is responsible for plant engineering. "With our project team, we can ensure that the facility runs flawlessly and is supplied on time. In both mechanical and electrical terms, our production must be compliant on the entire CI line and we must guarantee that the high Swiss norms and laws are observed" says Mark Aegler.

Neopac has also invested in planning: an automatic planning tool optimises processing of complex orders in Oberdiessbach and also contributes to efficient production.
